The Facts

The out-of-state special interest supporting S.O.S. are pushing to keep the old broken system in place. A system that favors corporate CEO's over Missouri workers. They want to lock into Missouri's Constitution the perks and privileges they have - while denying workers the right to choose how they form a union.

Unfortunately, current law puts the decisions about forming unions and bargaining in the hands of corporations, not workers. In our company-dominated system, corporations deny workers the freedom to choose a union, and they have free rein to coerce, intimidate and even fire employees to keep them from forming a union to bargain for their economic well-being.

So how are workers and CEO's treated differently when workers start to form a union? :

 What Happens When

Typical CEO

You

Get’s Hired

Signs a detailed contract with the company. The contract specifies compensation, working conditions, and responsibilities.

Is employed “at-will” can be fired anytime for any reason regardless of job-performance unless there is a union contract in place.

Get’s fired

Often has a “Golden Parachute” that has the company pay their salary even if they were fired for poor performance.

You are on your own. Corporations often contest unemployment benefits even if there are no grounds to do so. Worker may have to go months without a paycheck or unemployment insurance. A union contract protects workers from being fired without cause.

Has a problem with the boss.

No problem I am the boss!

Without a contract workers are at the whim of their supervisors and managers.
